Situated in the warehouse boom-town area of Bethlehem PA, this particular project featured an interesting challenge. Rock removal was needed to create a 45 ft high wall that would border the parking lot of the new massive warehouse. Located right behind the newly proposed wall was both a gas and water main that fed the city of Bethlehem. This meant having to do the project in lifts to keep vibration levels compliant. Mix in wall nailers and shotcrete that was applied for each lift and you have a great opportunity to measure what close proximity blasting would do to newly installed shotcrete and wall nails. Spoiler alert, since wall was only 6 ft from blast, seismogaphs were pegged.
